I love the look of natural Christmas decorations and last night I had the urge to make a wreath using twigs and pine cones.
The silver twigs were from our “minimalistic” Christmas tree 2 years ago and the pine cones were collected from a park which I spray painted gold. I am going for a gold and silver theme this year.
I started by laying out the twigs to form the circular shape and gradually intertwined them together.
It was quite tricky to hold the twigs in place so I used some natural fibered string to aid with binding.
I used fishing wire to add the pine cones so there was no need for messy sticky glue.
To hide the string and hang the wreath I used a neutral coloured ribbon.
Here is a glimpse of my Christmas tree. It still needs a star topper and a tree skirt so I will post better pictures once everything is complete.
Last year I spent Christmas in the Philippines in 35ºC degree weather which although sounds lovely, it just didn’t feel normal to me. I know us Europeans constantly complain about the cold but I do love the feeling of a real wintery white Christmas, snuggling with a loved one and sipping a hot beverage.
I know it’s still november but Christmas is my favourite festive holiday! Has anyone else put their decorations up early?
(Random fact: In the Philippines the Christmas period starts in SEPTEMBER! Decorations, tree, lights, carols the whole shebang)
